As a Printmaker and
Papermaker it occurred to me that it would be an exciting idea to combine
these two creative processes.
Participants with no previous skills, start in the morning with raw pulp
suspended in water and form it into a sheet of paper. An etching plate is
then made and printed and, at the end of the day, a piece of framed art can
be taken home that was literally ‘all your own work’.
If participants wanted an ‘edition’ printed from their etching plate,
further impressions could be made, perhaps to give as gifts, or to use as a
very special Christmas card.
I therefore devised this unique workshop to make this experience a reality.
I have already held a number of workshops, which went very well and were
great fun. The workshop is held in the former Collieston milking parlour,
Paul’s studio/workshop.
Collieston is a delightful former fishing village on the Buchan Coast. A
rugged coastline lies to the north and the beautiful duned Forvie Nature
Reserve stretches south to the Ythan Estuary.
